I am NOT a runner nor did I set out to be one. In 2012 due to wanting a healthier lifestyle, I joined First Flight’s Midnight Flight training camp. Yes, it was hard, harder than expected – I was sore, my legs hurt, it was hot and hard to breathe – but after a while I started to like it. I liked the challenge, the accomplishment of finishing a run, the people I met, and I noticed I was getting stronger. I actually felt better and had more energy. However, the encouragement from the First Flight coaches and volunteers was what kept me going and pushing harder for the goal of running my first 5K.
Since that first race in 2012, a lot has changed. I am thrilled beyond belief that I AM now a runner, a running coach, a First Flight board member.
